What's happened to people? 5, 6 years ago I could go on MSN and have the choice to speak to 10, - 15 people at a time. It was the days of virtual communication, and boy was it bliss. Nowadays, fucking hell... it's like no-one gives a shit anymore. At the most, I'll be lucky to see 5 on my MSN list anymore, and that's considered busy. I still have a list of 25 people on MSN but at least 15 of them NEVER seem to be online... either they just can't be bothered or they have blocked me. :D Could be 50-50 where i'm concerned. But it's just sad to know that people just don't bother like that...
On the flipside, maybe it's a good sign? Maybe it means more people are actually conversing offline face to face more now. Mobile phone calls would be a good start. Text messages are as bad for communication as online chatting is. People need to be speaking to eachother more. And properly. What does 'lol', 'rofl', and 'wtf' really do for society but dumb it down? LOL is one of the most evil mis-leading phrases out there *Shudders at the thought*. Text messages also encourage people to mis-spell their words for the sake of an extra text message or two.
Let's really keep on talking to eachother, it's why we're given the gift of speech. Talk to your numbers, to your friends and to your loved ones. Text messages can be direct, but that's part of the problem. They lose emotion, they lose proper meaning, they lose the closeness you can feel to anyone even if only for 30 seconds while you ask them how they are at that time.

Things here are hectic for me, so much change. Naomi got herself a full-time job finally, hell yeah! I'm currently managing a team of around 15 - 20 agents for a tele-marketing company, more work than I expected that's for sure, and we're looking at hopefully getting our own place together in the near future. Things are moving onwards and upwards, and it feels good. :) It's not easy, and we certainly never expected it to be. If you wanna get somewhere positive in life, don't expect it to come easily, you need to put in as much as you want to receive back.
I'm hoping to be back up in Liverpool sometime next month, hopefully bringing up two of my chums from Pompey, Simon and Matt Webb. Nope, no-one up north outside of my family knows them, but i'm sure they'll be welcomed heartily by the braw' 'Pool. :)

Over two months since my last blog. And yet I still insist on posting on here every now and then. How strange is that. I remember the days when i'd post once every day or two, back when it really meant the world to me to have this little outlet for me to pour out my feelings and thoughts but now... does it really serve a purpose anymore? So many times i've promised to stop blogging, go out on a... well, was never really a high, but just on a good note I guess, but I always came back for more. I wonder if there's a point anymore.
I know Kristine Basnett still seems to read what I have to say, well, she may still do despite this 2 month gap. Laura Sefton may also still come across this now and then, though last time I heard from her was nearly a year ago now. If you are still reading this, get in touch, by e-mail though, i've changed my number. Who else might read this... Skippy? Haven't heard from her in a while, though she's often getting involved with applications on facebook so I do sometimes see her active in that respect.
I just finished reading the last Harry Potter book. While the second half was great (though far, far too messy), the first half was dreadfully dull, and again, just a little too messy in my opinion. I just started typing something about what happens then realised it might ruin the story people who haven't read it, but needless to say, plod through the first half of the book, and I promise it does end on a promising note. Though I can't help feel it could have all been so much more fun, twisting, adventurous... I dunno, it just was a bit too all over the place for my liking, BUT; I was pleased to see that a suspicion I had ALWAYS held about a character was proven correct after reading this book. :D Handled well Mrs. Rowling.

I find it much harder to type up blogs these days than I used to a few years ago. Am I doing less now? Do I have fewer opinions about the trivial things that go on around us? Saying that, an advert for the 'Radio 1 Big Weekend' in Prestion just came on, filled with fucking indie music. ARGH!!!

I'm sure others have been in worse off positions than I am right now, but I have never been so bad myself. So it's been a struggle but quite enlightening to have to live in such a predicament. The weather here this last week has been so on and off, it's crazy. When it's hot, my god is it hot! When it's raining, boy does it rain. So it's a nice kinda mix right now, but not always appreciated.
I'm up in Liverpool next week, Either Friday or Saturday til the following Tuesday. Those of you who know me, know I got fired from my job with Sony Liverpool, for unjust reasons, and as I was only on a temporary contract, I couldn't sue them for the way they fired me. So it's good to see that, with the PS3 struggling on all fronts, that the same company is having to axe around half of it's employees due to 'changes' in the industry at the moment. You want to know a few changes?
* Sony can't face the fact that they have fucked up. BIG TIME. I'm a HUGE fan of the PS1 and the PS2, with maybe the PS1 slightly edging out in front, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING, could even slightly convince me to part with my well-earned cash for a PS3. If ever there was a marketing disaster around, it's the PS3. Blu-Ray DVD at a time when everyone is quite happy with their DVD's? A £500 price tag on a piece of equipment that has an over-priced movie player inside, shit games, a lack of full backwards-compatibility with the PS2, and a total lack of originality (Six-Axis motion was copied from Nintendo Wii, and they didn't even bother to change the controller shell anyway).
* Blue-Ray DVD. I mentioned this above. Blu_Ray DVD is not shit, far from it, but when it's selling feature is crisper quality screens and better sound... who gives a shit? DVD offered all that when it trumped over VHS and it won, MASSIVELY. Blu_Ray doesn't offer much more over the DVD. I could pay £6 for Speed: SE on DVD, or pay £25 for it on Blu-Ray, with nowhere near as many special features on it. Blu-Ray technology has come at the worst possible time, and considering its movies are being sold on the basis that the PS3 can play them, it just smells like PSP's UMD format all over again. Stick with DVD's people, you know it makes sense.
* The Six-Axis was a disaster from day 1. Nintendo Wii announced their brand new Wii-mote a month before Sony unveiled the Six-Axis to the world and... well, Nintendo got it right again. If you wanna see how thoughtful Sony are in regards to their technology, let's do a side-by-side comparison over the years...

I think it's safe to say here that both consoles had their very different yet equally as playable pads. both felt fantastic in your hand, the buttons responded brilliantly, but Nintendo had the edge with their analogue stick (however Sony would release a 'dualshock pad around the same time with too incorporated analogue sticks, but never to the same quality as Nintendo's)

This was revolutionary for the simple fact it gave you unparalled control over your games, unlike anything ever has before. Some people pass this off as a gimmick, don't listen, the Wii-mote controls and plays like a dream, and when you play Wii Sports, you really feel like it's YOU doing the winning.
Look what the PS3 did!!!... oh, nothing. Oh, sorry, they added wireless compatibility to the pad. Yeah!... hmmm. The Wii-mote announced the same thing, only earlier. And... it's more free with your controls. Oh, and the PS3 pad, the Six-axis, looks exactly as it did 12 years ago when the PS1 came out. Some would say you can't fuck with quality, but realistically, Sony needed something different for the PS3, and it simply hasn't happened. If you wanna see why Sony stuck with their tried and tested yet now ageing formula, here's the pad they originally planned on releasing...

A tiny part of me imagines that their bad luck now is from my being fired by them. Who knows. It's definitely weird to see Sony in such a bad market position after the immense success they had with both PS1 and PS2, but Nintendo will tell ya that even the biggest dogs can be put down on their bad day (Virtual Boy anyone?).
I've always been a massive Sony fan, the last 10 years has seen Sony and Nintendo vying for my attention in the bedroom, but for the first time in a decade, Sony slipped. And big time. Nintendo have taken the throne, and I even begrudgingly admit that microsoft now look more attractive to me than Sony, and i've always hated X-Box. Seriously, what a shit name. X-BOX. Gah.
My prediction: by 2010, Sony will have either given up on the PS3, or they'll simply have slashed the prices so lowly that, while the games that come out may be up to standard, they won't be able to match up in the console division any longer due to losses. i sincerely can't see their being a PS4, that's for sure.

The Wii will continue to sell like crazy, and when it does finally become available world-wide again (its STILL sold out 7 months after release), a soon-to-be price cut will drive the average housewife crazy for some entertainment for little Johnny on a weekend. Microsoft haven't gone wrong much this generation, and they'll continue to hold a nice steady position near the top of the market, with the Wii just slightly behind in 2nd place. Expect the 3rd X-Box to be simply revolutionary, but risking a backlash with a massive price-hike likened to the PS3.

Life's good for me lately, though my financial situation is tricky with me going monthly contract just now. I have never made this change before, and the preparation for it is ridiculously tricky. You'd be surprised how much you have to be ready for just from going from weekly pay to monthly pay. Very agonising. But i'm doing well and being sensible about it.
The weather down here is fucking hot. So much moreso than it apparently is in Liverpool right now, where the weather is apparently very fucking miserable recently. May the southern greatr weather continue, salut!
My DVD unit is now officially full. We're talking over 300 DVD's full. I feel now that any other casing / shelving / unit is just cheating on my original little fella. :( I've had my dvd unit for what must be close to 5 years now. it started off as a joint venture between me and my bro Lee, but he soon handed it to me knowing I would make more use of it with my ever growing DVD collection. What can I say, i'm a prick for this media. :P The library i've amassed is quite a daunting sight if you consider your 10 - 20 dvd to be a big collection. Funny thing is, I look at it and always think, "Could be bigger..."
I'm still loving my video games, and the Nintendo Wii is constantly making me happy. I LOVE the Virtual Console, and have so far downloaded Streets of Rage, Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros., and Punchout! for it. Retro gaming ftw. The Nintendo Wii is just a modern day marvel, and everyone should try it, especially those who brush it off as just a silly gimmick. Give it a try and you WILL be pleasantly surprised. I have not met a person who tried it and was disappointed. I can't see myself ever parting with mine. It's like a little baby to me. :D
Which reminds me... where the fuck have my Gamecube memory cards gone??? All 3 of them??? :(

The weather down here is fucking hot. So much moreso than it apparently is in Liverpool right now, where the weather is apparently very fucking miserable recently. May the southern greatr weather continue, salut!
My DVD unit is now officially full. We're talking over 300 DVD's full. I feel now that any other casing / shelving / unit is just cheating on my original little fella. :( I've had my dvd unit for what must be close to 5 years now. it started off as a joint venture between me and my bro Lee, but he soon handed it to me knowing I would make more use of it with my ever growing DVD collection. What can I say, i'm a prick for this media. :P The library i've amassed is quite a daunting sight if you consider your 10 - 20 dvd to be a big collection. Funny thing is, I look at it and always think, "Could be bigger..."
I'm still loving my video games, and the Nintendo Wii is constantly making me happy. I LOVE the Virtual Console, and have so far downloaded Streets of Rage, Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros., and Punchout! for it. Retro gaming ftw. The Nintendo Wii is just a modern day marvel, and everyone should try it, especially those who brush it off as just a silly gimmick. Give it a try and you WILL be pleasantly surprised. I have not met a person who tried it and was disappointed. I can't see myself ever parting with mine. It's like a little baby to me. :D
Which reminds me... where the fuck have my Gamecube memory cards gone??? All 3 of them??? :(
Two questions:
1. Is it against the law to attempt /commit suicide, and if so, if you fail will you be imprisoned? If it's NOT against the law, then why do we stop people doing it when they have the right to do so?
2. If you fart, and it smells so bad that it actually kills a passer-by, would you be arrested for their death despite you having no knowledge of the possibility of it happening?

No blog during February, what a queer coincidence. been splitting my time between Naomi, working, playing Final Fantasy XII / Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess / Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Kirby's Adventure. Fantastic times!
Work's going pretty fucking swell right now, and I may be on the brink of a promotion. All will become clear for me tomorrow after a certain meeting finishes. Here's to hoping i'm moving onward and upwards! Work itself is going just great right now. Still loving it as much as I ever did, the people are fantastic, the job itself may seem tedious but by god does time fly by in there, and best of all, it's right in Portsmouth city centre, which is where I only live 10 minutes away from now too! Everything seems to be going right for me now, for the first time in absolutely ages, and it feels good. To know things are right just feels fantastic.
My family come down here at the end of the month, which i'm REALLY looking forward to. :D My mum, dad, and me little bro Alex, who I REALLY can't wait to see!!! It's going to be so weird having them come visit ME for once, but it's an event i'm highly relishing. My dad loved Pompey when he came down back in October, and I know my mum is just going to fall for it too. Alex? He'll love all the ships and the Spinnaker Tower, being the little meat-head he is!

I finally got a Wii. And it's ace. Fucking ace.
Work's better cos' I got moved onto a better campaign, providing credit cards. I've met a whole bunch of new people, managed to get one guy into Harvey Danger (one of the greatest bands ever), found my niche in selling, and am working FAR better hours. So life is good. :D
I'm moving out of my current place into a better one next week. it's closer to work, cheaper by £30 a week, and i'm living with a guy who also works with me, but he's only there on a part-time basis. Either way though, it's gonna be a blast I reckon.
Life down south is simply great. There's the few odd niggles from living here as opposed to Liverpool, but nothing so off-putting that it causes a constant thorn in my side, no sir. It'd be nice to see some peeps from Liverpool come down now and then, but I understand that money and transport down south can be a fucking hassle, no-one needs to tell me that that's for sure! : P
Me and Naomi took a trip to London on Sat, just a daytrip really, something different from our usual weekends in Pompey. I tell you something... I could never live in London. Or at least shop there. That is one fucking crazy as shit city. CRAZY SHIT. Everyone seems to be going somewhere far too fast, and worrying about shit that is simply not worth the shit to worry about. But i've noticed that with a lot of southerners. They're just not as laidback as northerners, always worrying about one thing or the other. But it's just down to a change in culture. I mean up north, who the fuck recycles?? Down here, who DOESN'T? So there's times when the worry is good, cos' i've gotten to like recycling! :)

Been a while since I updated, and things have been up and down here in ol' Pompey. All kinds happens in the space of a day, a week, whatever, here. It's hectic. Life can be simply hectic here. Maybe it's just cos' i'm living on my own now, maybe. Had a good christmas and new years, now we all have to knuckle down and make 2007 a better year than we ever did before.
My job's going ok, but it can be tricky at times. Not as stressful as it really should be, but it has its off-days. I tells ya, working the phone's is a real experience, one i'm super-glad i've taken myself through! I gotta say, the jobs i've had have been quite varied, and the experience i've gained at each one has become essential over the years. Whether it be retail work, tele-marketing, or even testing video games, i've learnt a lot about myself, met a LOT of cool crazy people, and the times i've spent, I wouldn't trade for any other. I'm not one to believe i'm destined for great things, or that i'll be a martyr one day, but I like the idea that all i've worked for, all i've done achieved throughout my life so far, may one day culminate into an explosion of success, in whatever was possible. I don't care much for fame, financial security would be nice, and a peace of mind for years to come would be a godsend.
Maybe i'm a little young to be thinking of this, but if we don't consider the possibilities now, we may never do so. You're never too young to plan ahead, so do so while you can, cos' one day you'll look back and wish you'd spent the time more productively!
By the way, I want a Wii. So fucking badly.
